About Campaigns Programme
What IFEX can do to Support Members in Campaigning

The IFEX Campaigns and Advocacy Support Programme aims to foster collaboration, provide training and advice, and deepen commitment to addressing free expression violations and issues among the IFEX membership.

Many IFEX members have expressed a desire for the network to build on its capacity to disseminate alerts worldwide. The Campaigns and Advocacy Support programme focuses on bringing further attention to specific free expression cases and campaigns, and to supporting members on advocacy projects.

The programme is member-driven, and is aimed at building on IFEX member-led campaigns by developing tools, capacities and support towards advocating for the protection and promotion of free expression. The programme provides support to members to address short, medium and long-term advocacy goals, including joint action letters, publicity and awareness-raising events, and more elaborate multi-member, international and cross-sectoral campaigns.

What IFEX can do to Support Members in Campaigning

Rapid and Organised Action Responses (ROAR)

Rapid and Organised Action Response (ROAR) is part of the IFEX Campaigns programme strategy to support rapid, short term follow-up actions. These can include:

1) Joint Actions

IFEX members can use IFEX's Alert Network to gather signatures from other members for a Joint Action on an urgent case, which can reach thousands of individuals and organisations world-wide. See Take Action.

2) IFEX Advocacy Action News and the IFEX Communiqué

IFEX members can raise awareness and profile of their campaigns in the bi-monthly IFEX Advocacy Action News! and in the weekly IFEX Communiqué.

3) Support for developing short-term campaigns

IFEX members can inquire about support through Outreach Grants for campaigning, advocacy training, and events.

The IFEX Campaigns and Advocacy Support Programme can also offer advice and coordination support in the development of campaigns and projects that enhance existing members' campaigning and advocacy efforts.

4) Support to larger campaigns

See Current Campaigns.
